My son who's 5 got scheduled today for this. For a good year he's been miserable with sinus infections, ear infections and always congested.I was hoping it wouldn't come down to surgery.Any of yall had to go through this with y'all's kids?I am scared to death about it cause I've heard horror story's about having tonsils and adenoids removed.Just seeing what I can expect if any of yall have been through this.Prayers would be greatly appreciated too.

Five year olds do well, it would kill you or I.

Which hospital?

Done bud

I'd tell you not to worry, but as parents we worry about everything.

I had my adenoids out when I was little. Wish they would have taken the tonsils as well. Kids are resilient and he will bounce back. Bad things happen and with kids the parents likely would not know none the wiser unless it is a really bad thing. Prays for the little man

Dude. Been there done that! My daughter has had three open heart surgeries. Her last was an aortic valve replacement 6 weeks ago. I know what your going thru. It's hard to watch but I bet he will be fine. Just make sure he doesn't eat anything rough that could scratch his throat and lots of ice cream and popsicles. Stay away from red foods so it's not confused with blood. IF it happens.

Prayers on the way

But who prays for Satan? Who, in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most?

My son had it done a few years ago, but he had the regular roto rooter sinus surgery, also trimmed his hangy down thingy. He said that hurt so bad that he really didn't notice the sinus surgery being that bad. Kids normally heal quicker than us old farts (my son was in his late 20's) Good luck and prayers for your son.

Youngest daughter had tonsils and adenoids removed.
There will be some discomfort, but he will be fine.
Prayers for a quick and painless recovery.

I had my tonsils taken out in one surgery and my adenoids removed and tubes put in my ears in another one when I was 6 years old or less (I don't remember which was first). Back then, they kept you in the hospital for at least one night, maybe more. Now all of that seems to be done on an outpatient basis.

Popsicles and soft foods for a few days as I recall.

Lots of folks tell you not to worry, that it is routine, etc, but I suspect even the most medically knowledgeable people worry when it is their kids having surgery.

I'm a nurse. Actually think it makes things worse because I know all the things that could POTENTIALLY happen. It always runs thru your mind. But the chances are minimal or miniscual

If it makes Trox feel better. I work in the ED and I hardly EVER see a complication from a tonsil surgery. Maybe 4-5 a year if that. Doesn't happen often considering how many hundreds of tonsils surgeries are performed any given month in my area.
