No, using the game check app to record your kills means you don't have to carry a paper harvest record and you don't even have to carry a paper license.

That is incorrect. You have to have a harvest record in your possession. There is a reason game check has a 48 hr window and a phone number to call. You must record your harvest record before the animal is moved. If you don't have cell service with your mobile device, how in the hell can record your harvest? Prevention!

I don't carry a paper copy with me.

Then you will get a ticket! It's pretty simple. If you don't have a hunting license with you, you will get a ticket. If you are stopped in a vehicle without a valid drivers license, what will happen?

You must be stuck in the past buddy. You don't have to keep a paper license on you, and you don't have to carry a paper harvest record on you. It's all on my phone and perfectly legal.

Care to show us your harvest record on your mobile device? We would all like too see it so we no longer have to carry a piece of paper. Looking forward to your response.

The game check app is your digital harvest record. Also, where in that regulation you just quoted does it say you have to have a pen like you said earlier?

It actually does say it in the Hunters Digest that you MUST have a pencil/pen and your harvest log. Just read it last week...I'll look it up in a min

Obviously, you won't need that if you use the app.

I have a harvest record on my license isn't that good enough?

If you purchased a license online and printed it out, a haverst record was attached at the bottom I believe.

Someone post the DCNR video for Strutter before he ends up with 43 apps and 16 harvest somethings.

Strutter - DCNR officials have said on here previously - several times - that if you have the app you do not also have to have the paper harvest record.

Dispute that if you wish.

It may would help if you knew the regulations. You enter your harvest into the app, the app records it. If you aren't in cell service, it uploads it when you get into cell service. Perfectly legal and acceptable per the regulations.

This game check/harvest record crap is getting out of hand and not showing good or reliable data collection results anyway. With the Game Check road block garbage, this thing, weird baiting rules, constant shifting of zones, special weapon seasons, and other garbage, its almost certain anyone will get a ticket to even attempt to legally deer hunt anymore. Its turning a lot of folks off to deer hunting and hunting in general. No wonder license sales are declining.

Before You Go Hunting:
You must obtain a hunting license and a Harvest Record.
If you are exempt from needing a license or have a lifetime hunting license,
you still need a Harvest Record. You can get a Harvest Record online
at www.outdooralabama.com or from the Alabama Hunting and Fishing
Digest. Possession of a smartphone with the Outdoor Alabama app will be
accepted in lieu of a paper Harvest Record.
During Your Hunt:
You must always carry your Harvest Record, your hunting
license and a pen or pencil while hunting.
You must fill out the Harvest Record with the date and type
of animal taken
BEFORE
moving the animal. This includes
all deer and turkeys.

Might as well grab his ankles and eat the $400 instead of paying that plus attorney's fees.

After the county gets their cut of the loot, it'll all be smooth.

Attorney's fees? Geez you don't need an attorney for a game violation. Just take a copy of the regulations with you and tell the judge what happened.

Just trying to save you guys from a situation. Call call your local game Gamewarden. I asked both of mine the same question when they came to dinner 2 weeks ago along with trying to get a permit to shoot hogs at night in January. Bamafred knows the folks that I hunt with. He can assure you that they do not take uncalculated risks.

So you are saying that two GWs told you that even with the DCNR Pocket Ranger app for the smartphone that you still have to carry a paper "harvest" record with you?

Because that completely contradicts what DCNR has publicly published and announced for months.
