I wonder if that is true for where I hunt. The guys at the club told me our rut is end of Jan - beginning of Feb, but I don't know if that is true or just to get me to not hunt until then. Doesn't really matter, I'm in the woods any chance I get.

Where in Elkmont treetop? I'm in Ekmont and hunt just north in Veto down by the water treatment plant past the Mill Creek Campground.

Ive talked to several people over the past few years that always talk about January for North Central AL. I know just south of the tenn. river it seems to me second week of December til around Christmas is best. I've seen em chase in mid to late jan. but that is the second go around in my opinion. I haven't been in the woods since gun season opened, but you better believe I'll be out there starting this weekend.
