I'm set up on the edge of a cutover this morning. The rut is almost here so I'm hoping to catch one cruising

Where you hunting at? Further up north?

They Won't be rutting here for another solid month where I'm at! But yesterday morning I climbed down my lock on and seen a scrape about 15 yards away so i go look and it end up being 11 in a row about 60 yards long. So I dunno

Dodge city in cullman. I don't think they will be full blown chasing until a couple more weeks but it's a good time to catch one cruising trying to find one of the first hot does

Hard rain in Marshall Co. No hunting here today.

it'd be a good day to quietly slip through some woods and check out a new spot or two.

It's still raining here. I'm not mad enough at them right now to go get soaked.

Would you out your camera next to some of them or on the trail he's using going to the next one? They are almost in a straight line

Jono, I see Obi-Wan has trained you well, young Jedi.
Young guys slip in the rain.
Old guys stay home in the dry.

I thought the same thing, AC! I thought (in my best "how Bama fans watch the SEC games voice), "look at Jono giving good advice. Look at him!" grin

Really enjoyed watching him grow as a hunter. He's becoming a killer for sure! thumbup

I know the old saying that you can't kill one sitting at home on the couch...and I was really looking forward to going this afternoon (would had been only my second chance to go since gun season opened). However I'm hunting a fairly small tract and with the variable wind forecast this afternoon I'm going to sit it out. It's a tough decision because I won't get another opportunity to go until next weekend.

My hope is that showing some restraint today will pay off when conditions are more favorable and the property has been less pressured.

All that being said I'm going to modify the old adage "can't kill one TODAY sitting at home on the couch...but it might be the key to killing one in the future ".

Good luck to all who are giving it a go this evening!
