This morning someone on one of the Facebook groups posted a Savage sluggun for sale. We agreed upon a price and met in Shorter abit ago. Well here is my first slug gun. It's a Savage 210 with a Leupold VXI 3-9X40 up top. I stopped into Gander and grabbed two boxes of Hornady 2.75" 300gr SST. I knew that slugs were a little bit pricey but I didn't realize darn near $3 per slug.

Man, that's SWEET!
Good choice on the Hornadys, too. Those things are supposed to be bad news for a deer.

I really don't know all that much about rifled slug guns. The extent of my prior slug shooting experience is casually shooting them at the range at milk jugs or old freon tanks.

Good choice on slugs it'll be a tack driver im sure. Just remember to tighten your belt and hold on for the kick they're not the most pleasant things to shoot

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

I'm thinking it will likely be getting a Limbsaver recoil pad. Maybe down the line if I find myself liking it and using it I will look into some porting.

serious question...why a slug gun instead of a rifle??
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

serious question...why a slug gun instead of a rifle?? I own a Tikka in 7MM08 so I have got the rifle category covered. Quite a few states(Midwest) have slug only seasons that I hope to eventually maybe hunt and at the price I paid, I figured sure why not. Some of these slug fanatics are absolutely crazy. Taking 50BMG and 20MM casings and creating "hulls" & launching projectiles upwards of 500gr's http://www.nodakoutdoors.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=54937

I figgered you hunted somewhere they didn't allow rifles.

A Limbsaver recoil pad will help some. Great gun. You'll enjoy it. Puts a hurt on critters, too.

50 yards Mossberg rifled barrel 12g. Big hole is a lead slug. Smaller one is a hornady.
