We were drilling 3/4" spade bit holes in our pier joists and through the pilings at the gulf. My neighbor had a 18v Milwalkee and I think it would break your wrist if the bit got caught in a knot. It lasted longer than I did and was throwing fingernail sized wood chips. I'd get one myself if I didn't have a key to his storage room
