If you're going to be driving a big auger bit, get an impact driver, 18v, lithium ion.
There's a really good review of them in a recent issue of Fine Homebuilding--you can probably see it on their website. I used one of these while helping on a Habitat rebuild in Hackleburg. I was quite impressed, with the speed/power, and the small, lightweight battery.
