Hey I hunted Skyline a few times over the past few years and at the guard shack to get our permits, 4 350+ lb guys pulled up in a Civic on a gun day. You never know what you'll see on gun days on public land.
I'm the same way though. We have 1500 acres in Stevenson (bow only), so I'm going to stick with that. I'm from Stevenson, live in Huntsville now. Been thinking about heading back that way to hunt, but I wasn't sure how bad the public land over there has got. How's the hunt so far this year? On our club it's great. We have managed to keep to the pressure to a minimum. I think Skyline is still good but you have to know where to go. I hunted straight up 79 into TN. You take a little road off to the right and it goes back into AL. Turn left a mile or so down that way and I hunted off a ridge going toward Little Coon Valley. Didn't see many people back that way. You really need a UTV/ATV for that area. Especially after good rain in the winter
I hope we have once again reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. Theres a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts. Ronald Reagan
