This morning when it got daylight I seen this spot on my foot platform of my tripod.Wasn't there end of season last year.My tripod is in a clearcut and not around any big trees so I know a big limb didn't do it.The only thing I can possibly even come up with is maybe a lightning strike????I have been sitting here staring at it and I just don't have any idea..What yall think?

Had water in it when the temps dropped below freezing. I thought about that to but it's completely sealed up.I guess it could collect enough moisture in it to freeze but I just don't look like it busted upended from water feezing.

Looks like a bullet hole. That was my first thought. In this pic you can see where it really looks like a bullet done it but I don't know how it would even be possible unless someone trespassed and purposely climbed my ladder and done it.I just don't know.

Sure looks like a bullet would have passed all the way thru. Is there even a dent in the backside of the tubing ?

That looks like a lightning strike to me. I've inspected a Yield sign that I saw get hit one time and the damage to it looked very similar.

I've had one freeze and it puffed the whole tube almost round then split in the corner about an inch and half long, so I don't think its water freezing.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I can see them now. With no pass through I'm guessing frozen water busted it.

The bullet came from elsewhere from an angle just barely higher than the platform.
The expanded metal is difinitely a rounded out pass through and the first point of impact.
The square tubing damage exit path exactly lines up and has signs of the bullet passing through the outside of it in a glancing, plowing blow.
Somebody shot from somewhere else, the path and shape has all the answers. Just look at the close-up pics.

I'd say maybe a stray bullet from elsewhere. Glad u wasn't sitting in it at the time, you might have shatt in your pants.
If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

It's not a bullet because the metal is bent upward and outward. Unless it was shot from underneath which he has already said there isn't a hole on the underside.
My guess is lightning or water. A metal tripod in the wide open a lightning strike is not that far fetched.

When I see tube gates that have frozen, they split in a line and protrude out. But that is round and this is square so maybe the line split doesn't apply. Now I said that to tell you I have no damn idea!!
