We live in a land governed by LAWS that protect us, sometimes from the government itself. For the POTUS to take a stance of assassinating anyone he deems an enemy flies in the face of these laws, and to support it, regardless of how "right" an individual case may seem, is treasonous & illegal.
If George Bush had simply ordered Saddam assassinated when he invaded Kuwait it may have saved countless lives and destruction of property, but those same people celebrating Obama's claim of "taking out" bin Laden and the American-born terrorists would have demanded a trial and for Bush to be impeached for violating the law & numerous treaties that our Nation is party to.
There is very much a difference in a traitorous citizen being killed as an action of war and the ordering of his assassination, unfortunately the POTUS and his supporters are ignorant as to this fact.
Ron Paul is correct, in our actions in Afghanistan & Libya we are outside of our own laws, the POTUS has overstepped his legal bounds repeatedly & ignored the legal provisions he has via Congress.
Really, it's no different than the millions of people flooding our southern borders, because they see it as being "right", and there is no legal authority stopping them. They chose not to obey those laws because it is inconvenient to them and hinders what they want. They have many supporters in this Country who agree with them.
The end certainly doesn't justify the means.
And yes, I served & was decorated in Desert Storm, and I respected our POTUS for his decision to obey the law & STOP once we had liberated Kuwait, even though I knew we'd have to go back to finish it. Not because of what he or I wanted, or what was easy or popular but because it was right.
