... I took an oath to defend this country against all ENEMIES foreign and domestic. They were the enemy causing deaths and destruction, they were on the receiving end of that oath, administered by other oath takers.
Here's the oath you took:

You swore (or affirmed) to defend the Constitution... at home and abroad.
