If you want a quality scope put a Leupold VX2 4-12 AO on it. If you want a lower power scope go with the Leupold 3x9 EFR. I agree with PCP about adjustable parallax.

A cheaper scope but still good quality would be a Weaver rimfire because parallax is set for 50 yards with rimfire specific scopes.

The Weaver V16 with adjustable parallax is a great rimfire scope but a bit heavy.

If you just want to shoot tin cans or be able to hit a squirrel,nearly any scope will work. A big game scope without an AO will not however allow you to shoot to the gun's full potential. You also won't be able to shoot flies on paper at 25 and 50 yards because the big game scope will not focus that close on full power.

With my rimfires,I like to be able to shoot a hole at 50 yards and then center my crosshairs on that hole for my next shots. I can hit 22 shell casings at 50 yards because I can see them at full power. I use the 4-12 VX2 AO. It will focus on 12X down to about 25 yards. Some of those scopes I listed will focus at 10 yards. For me most of the fun with a 22 is seeing how small of a target I can hit at close range.
