Put back a CZ 455 American today for a squirrel rifle. I want to put a quality scope on it, but nothing over the top. Whats everyone shooting?

I have thought about one of the cheap Japan made Zeiss conquest, for a 22 they would do fine I believe. Optics are decent enough for 22 for sqwerls or whatever.

If I were getting one, I'd probably go with a Vortex Diamondback. I believe it would be a great scope for the CZ 455.

I've got Nikon Prostaffs on mine with the BDC reticle. The BDC works good on a 22

I put one of the low end vortex on my ar and have 500 or so rounds through it and it is rock solid so far.

I'm a fixed 4x kinda guy on a 22.
I have an old Leupold M8 4x compact on mine. Works well.

I like a scope with adjustable parallax for a .22. Parallax isn't much of a problem for a deer rifle here in the south, but it can make you miss a squirrel. I have a Swift on my customized 10-22 that's been my squirrel gun a long time. The scope was only about $100 when I bought it; looks like they run about $200 now.
An alternative is to buy a cheaper scope and send it to the manufacturer and ask them to set it be parallax free at 40 yds. Most are set for 100 yards. Good luck!

As cheap as Simmons scopes are they are a pretty darn good scope. I have one on a .35 Whelen, and no problems. I would say on a .22 it would make a great addition.

x2 Simmons for a 22. I have the 22 Mag which is parallax-free at 50yds. For an inexpensive scope it has been a champ on my Ruger 10/22.

If you want a quality scope put a Leupold VX2 4-12 AO on it. If you want a lower power scope go with the Leupold 3x9 EFR. I agree with PCP about adjustable parallax. A cheaper scope but still good quality would be a Weaver rimfire because parallax is set for 50 yards with rimfire specific scopes. The Weaver V16 with adjustable parallax is a great rimfire scope but a bit heavy. This is also a quality Japanese made rimfire scope. http://www.clearidgeoptics.com/product-p/3310.htmIf you just want to shoot tin cans or be able to hit a squirrel,nearly any scope will work. A big game scope without an AO will not however allow you to shoot to the gun's full potential. You also won't be able to shoot flies on paper at 25 and 50 yards because the big game scope will not focus that close on full power. With my rimfires,I like to be able to shoot a hole at 50 yards and then center my crosshairs on that hole for my next shots. I can hit 22 shell casings at 50 yards because I can see them at full power. I use the 4-12 VX2 AO. It will focus on 12X down to about 25 yards. Some of those scopes I listed will focus at 10 yards. For me most of the fun with a 22 is seeing how small of a target I can hit at close range.
