I have a 01 Jeep with a 4 banger n it. Im put some bigger wheels on it an was wonder what I can do to offset the power loss. Ive looked into a cold air intake and a throttle body spacer and it gonna cost me about $400 is there anything I can do that might cost me just alittle more money to get more HP instead of the air intake and throttle body?

My suggestion is to sell it and buy one already fixed up with a 6 cylinder. Gears are gonna cost you around 500 plus around 300-400 to get them installed. I have sank over 3000.00 in mine and it already had a lift and nice wheels. But it needed re gearing, tires ,locker,new axle etc.etc

Don't waste your money on bolt on accessories for the motor. Put some lower gears in it.

you can goto quadratec.com and they have a gear ratio calculator to help select the gears. or you can google gear ratio calculator. what size tires and wheels are you going with?

I found a supercharger said it COULD gaim up to 40-60HP. says its electric but idk bout that

Without regearing you will be putting the stress on your engine and transmission. I would re gear before any engine mods.

285/75-16 are a 32.5" to 32.8" dia depending on brand.
Electric superchargers don't work and will screw up an engine if a part gets ingested into the engine.
Save up $800+ for a regear or sell what you have and find one with a 4.0L.

some 4.11 gears would be all you need.. remember you gotta do the front too or you cant use the 4wd.. What gears do you have now? Look at the tag on the rear diff cover.. should be on one of the bolts

if you go to bigger tires you have to do gears. it will cost less than the lift and tires if you take it to a decent shop on a bench job.
mine ... 2002 jeep tj chevy lm7 v8 4l60e trans low gear kit np231 4.56 gears on 35s
dont waste money on engine mods before regearing.

Mime is a 2002 tj ,4.0L, 4.11 gears. 33x12.50 tires. Looking back I should have went with 4.56 gearing. But the 4.11's are fine for a daily driver.

So he should look at 4.56's? Or 4.88's? I'm used to Toyotas, but 4.56s and 4.88s are for 33's on them

With a 4cyl and 33's. I'd go with 4.88s.
