I went over there 2-1 and 2-08 and there is shad everywhere dead and millions of live shad that are about dead. I have talked to homeowners that live there and one of them has lived there 27 years and said he has never seen that many shad dead or alive. Is this something that has happened in the past or is it just a cycle of killing off shad? Also both trips have not produced any fish on the ends of my line and havent talked to anyone catching anything.

Cold wather.

Shad died on Wilson and Wheeler, too.

Catfish should be fat this spring.

saw a few dead shad on mitchell this weekend. Not a lot, but the water was so muddy you couldn't see much of anything.

Me and a buddy fished up there last fall and saw the same thing. It is my understanding that shad are very weak when it comes to the temp changes. Last fall when we were there it was a sudden drop. I'd guess that the warm days and cool nights are too much for them.

The really crappy thing was we couldn't catch a dang thing! There were shad EVERYWHERE. Why would a bass eat a lure when they had all that food everywhere?
