 I'm looking at this boat on Craigslist. It comes with evrything for fishing for $1700. After I sell my pond boat, canoe, and some guns it would all even out. I just want it to fish the TN river and the lakes around here. Sound like a good deal?

What kind of motor is that? It almost looks like one of the old Chrysler outboards. If it is, save your $1700, they were terrible motors.
I bought a similar boat years ago that someone had traded in at a Marina. I paid $1500 for a 15 ft boat that had a 75hp Evinrude. The marina even did a compression check on the outboard. I think $1700 may be a touch high.

That might be an Evenrude motor and if it is thats probaly a pretty good price, trailer and all. I agree about the chrysler motors, they suck.

I agree with Jack, that is an evinrude. As for the price? I have no idea. But, I would venture a guess that is a 30 year old boat.

I would keep looking. I don't know where people get the idea that boats 30yrs old are worth what they try to sell them for. Keep looking and save some more beans to get you a little better deal...

It is an Evinrude and the boat is a '78. Thanks for the opinions. I'm going to wait until I find what I'm looking for. If anyone knows of 14-16 john boat with at least a 9.9, please let me know.

Sounds like a wise decision. Most of the time when you purchase a boat that old, you're buying someone elses problems. The john boat you mentioned sounds like a good idea for the type fishing you talked about. The buy-sell-bulliten or craigslist usually have plenty of them in that price range. If I were going to fish the Tenn, I'de make sure it is a deep & wide boat that would handle the wake from other boats.

10 ft. Pelican Bass Raider that has never been in the water along with a Minn Kota 30 lb thrust that has never seen the water, $350. The canoe is an 16 ft. American Eagle with a hitch extension, $200. Send me an e-mail in a private message and I can send you pictures.
