I have their waterfowler hat. It may look goofy, but is the warmest headwear I have ever worn.

WildlifeBiologist is right. I have a couple of jackets, hats, belts, cap, chaps and two computer bags, waterfowl sweater and a game vest I use for small game, coons and turkeys. All are tough as nails, warm in cold weather, water resistant (the waxed cotton) and I never have to worry about anything with them.
My duffel bag has been to six countries in Europe, Canada, Mexico and throughout the U.S. I don't worry about checking it because the airline guys can't destroy it under normal use.
Expensive? Yes. It'll make your teeth hurt looking at prices. But the stuff is meant to last and they stand by it. They've expanded a little bit in recent years with the addition of a few things being worn by all the Hipster Doofus crowd, but haven't capitulated completely and hopefully will not.
I also have a McAllister waxed cotton hat with a wool liner. I can't wear it unless it's in the 40s or below because it's so warm and can't wear it for long walks.
Quick story: Was at the SHOT Show in Vegas at least 15 years ago if not more and talking with the then-PR person about the Filson game vest. It has two front pockets, a big back pocket and that's it. Simple. They make it in waxed cotton and I told her if they would make it in non-waxed in green instead of tan, they could market it to turkey hunters who are "minimalist" and don't take 297 things in the woods with them.
She said, "Tell this guy what you just told me." and I related the idea again. He said that was a good idea, why the non-waxed (so as to not mess up any slate calls or strikers) and said thanks. I asked her who that was and she said, "President of the company. He always listens to any idea."

I've got a plethora of Filson stuff from my days of being single. Only problem I ever had was a jacket ripped and I sent it back for repairs. Game vest is one of the best things they've ever made. I've got luggage, Bibs, jackets, shirts.
I was probably fortunate that I was able to buy quite a bit of their stuff that was Made in USA. They've outsourced quite a bit to China lately.

Re-waxing depends on use. I had a jacket that had a fold that seemed to dry rot and ripped a pretty good portion near the collar. Some I waxed every 2 or 3 years some I've never waxed.

Thr only downside is when new or freshly waxed the wax will get all over anything it touches.
