My daughter shot a doe last year that we're 99% sure she had shot the last weekend of the previous year.

Killed a nine point 4 years ago in Illinois. He was shot in the neck on the neighboring property the day before. They actually came over on us and looked for him. When I shot him, he was cruising around acting normally, probably heading back home.

Deer are some tough critters. The guy at the processor last year told me that they see deer all the time that have old wounds. The most common one he said was the grazing shot across the top of the back.
Folks that know don't shoot old does........

I killed 2 bucks last year, 3 days apart that had healed up from prior shots or one could have been hit by a car.
The first one was an 8 point that had a blade from a Wasp Jakhammer broad head between it's shoulder and rib cage. The o-ring for the broad head was just under his hide, right on top of the muscle. Completely healed, no infection, just a little bloody specks around the blade. Shot was at least a year old.
The next one was a hard 7. Spike on one side, 6 on the other, that's lowest front shoulder joint had either been shot or badly broken. It was totally fused with a clump of bone about the size of a softball.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

One that I know.
This deer was a 7 point and one of the 205lb bucks I killed on the Elmore co. tract on the river back in the 90's I posted about on the heaviest deer thread. I got the rack mounted but can't remember the date. I dubbed him the "Snow Buck" because it had snowed the day before and I got to blood trail him in the snow as he ran into a planted pine thicket. That was cool.
Afterwards, I dropped by a friend's house that hunted the tract with us to show him the deer and he said another guest had shot at a buck a couple of weeks ago that looked like this one. Sure enough, we found a bullet hole just anterior to one of the hindquarters. We took a pic of it and if I find it, I'll post it up.

I shaved a four points back enough to split the skin to the white part the weekend before gun season opened one year. The morning of the gun season opener my dad killed the same four point on the same greenfield with his 30-30.That's it for me on this subject. It was pretty cool at the time.

Dad shot a 10year old 6 point in 2007 through both lung with his 35 remington had a good blood trail for ever, like the deer wouldnt die. I bet we walked half a mile tracking that thing before it killed over. He was in full rut. We gut him take him to the procesor when we went to pick up the meat and the guy say "you woudnd believe what came out of this thing" he had it all layed out there. There was (2) brodheads,(2) 38spl slugs, a hand ful of 22 caliber slugs, buck shot, bird shot, and a piece of plastic kinda looked like part of a car grill. We didnt get hardly any meat back of that one due to all the scar tissues. I guss hat deer was just determined to live one way or another
