Looking to get a new fish finder, would like colored. What is a good one and what prices could I expect?

Check out gpsdiscount.com. They have pretty good prices. Are you wanting a GPS/fishfinder or a regular fishfinder? You can't go wrong with Lowrance. I bought the Lowrance 520 last year and it is awesome. So i'll say go with Lowrance.  If you are interested, I have a Garmin 168 GPS and 240 (regular fishfinder) for sale. They are not color though. I'd take $250 for them together.

Lowrance has a new HD series that look pretty cool, I think they start at 750.00 Eagle has a color model for 520.00. I have had eagle and lowrance graphs and like them both. They are the same unit except the lowrance has a little more detail. If you are willing to spend a couple grand then the side imaging hummingbirds are really cool.

If you want gps/finder in one, get the Lowrance LMS-520. I've got one and really like it. If you only want the graph, get the Lowrance X-510.

A price range that you are willing to spend may get a few more opinions.
If you have $2300.00 to spend and are dedicated tournament fisherman the the Humminbird 1197SIc is the absolute best for that money.
If you have $1600.00 to spend and are dedicated tournament fisherman the the Humminbird 997SIc is the absolute best for that money.
If you have $1000.00 to spend and are dedicated tournament fisherman the the Humminbird 798SIc is the absolute best for that money.
If you are in the 4-600 dollar range then i would go with the LMS 500 Series from lowrance. These are also excellent units. Though the side imaging from Humminbird is the real deal. I only wish i could afford them, so for now my LMS 520 c will have to do.

go to basspro.com or cabelas.com and read the reviews on them is the best i can tell you... alot of people will give opinions on the matter and not even know anything about it... for instance my family and i have always used lowarance(spelled it wrong) just for the fact that we've heard bad things about humminbird.....

i think the best way to put this is if you buy a new rifle, u can either buy a quality scope and get a clear image and prolly a product that will last a lifetime or u can get some on the lower end that will not have as good as a picture and will prolly not last a lifetime...
