My Boykin is about 4 months old now and does a lot of scratching and chewing early in the morning and late at night. Mine is kept similarly to yours. I feed regular puppy chow though.
I even took mine to the vet to rule out sarcoptic mange. He believes it is environmental and will go away.
Just out of curiosity, What is the deal with carpet fresheners?
