IV. There are only two sacraments ordained by Christ our Lord in the Gospel; that is to say, Baptism, and the Supper of the Lord: neither of which may be dispensed by any, but by a minister of the Word lawfully ordained.
Baptism is a sign that looks backwards toward the cleansing that took place through the atonement. By contrast, the foot washing in John was a sign that looked forward to the cross. It was far more than an example of humility.

Seems to turn a move of the Spirit into a legal contract to me.
If there were such an emoji could I use it every time someone claimed something was a move of the spirit? Or every time someone claimed God spoke to them?
I.G. I have no doubt what you experienced was powerful and genuine. When the Holy Spirit moves you know it.
But, these other guys have a point. I am an evangelist and have about seen it all. In fact I just returned from a place where Christ is not known establishing churches there. I am not boasting but simply trying to put some validity behind my words. While I am Baptist, I do know what other denominations practice / Believe. Presbyterians , Methodist, Pentecostals , Holiness, etc.
The reason some are skeptical has a lot to do with the skepticism that comes from any other move of God. The enemy mimics what God does... He perverts it. I have shared the Gospel with a lot of people. Thousands. I've seen a lot of confusion that comes from false moves of the spirit. False fire so to speak. Many who fall out in holiness churches often doubt their salvation when they aren't on a spiritual high. Also, many who claim these great moves of God often do not know how to share their own faith and often times have never told another soul how to get to heaven. These situations are what make people guess.
Again, I'm not doubting for one second the genuine move of God you experienced. I believe fully in the moving of the Holy Spirit and I am glad that you experienced it the way you did. The key was your mother in laws humility and yours as well.
Wish I'd kept my big mouth shut. Sorry Irish. I do think it was a beautiful thing she did. I'm not posting on any more religious topics. There are too many different backgrounds here and strong feelings for it to do anything but be divisive.

It's all cool. I understand that everyone has different beliefs. It it were not so there would be no need for so many different Protestant denominations.
