Catch and release is part of a management plan with ponds but not a requirement to have more fish for the future.

Bass and bream in a balanced pond procreate well enough to keep things in check as long as you take out enough of them throughout the year. Other things like crappie and catfish can get out of whack pretty fast and suddenly the entire pond can become overrun with stunted fish.

That's a helluva bass.
