Took my daughter bass fishing in our Native Ultimate kayak this morning. In-laws recently made a land swap and we now have a small pond.
Caught a few small bass and my daughter lost a couple of nice fish at the boat. After the sun got up the bite died so we decided to call it quits.
Paddle to the bank and glide it into the bank. She steps out and I ask her to pull the boat forward a little. She picks up the front like a dead-lift and the back goes under. Before I can react the entire boat is swamped. Ice chest and tackle bag float out and my phone is submerged in the boat somewhere.
I shoved the boat as far onto the bank as I can then swim out and get the ice chest and tackle bag. Once the boat is pulled out and flipped I find my phone under the seat. Got it sitting in the Sun now and it will go in a bag of rice in a bit. Galaxy S6 so the battery is not removable. Don't have much hope in rescuing it.

Troys Life Rules #27....ALWAYS place anything that can ruin from water in a sealable plastic baggie...everytime. Hope ya can save it.
We dumped a very nice Nikon camera in the Alabama River last year..but it was in a gallon baggie and was dry...thankfully
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I have dry bags, at our beach house. Just got a little complacent and will probably have to spend a few bucks because of it.

Friend of mine took a dunking the other day. He stuck his phone in dehydrator and saved it. I did the bowl of rice on mine and did not. If try dehydrator. What have you got to lose?

You are going to have to leave it in the rice for at least 24 hours to know if it works. I tried it once with my son's kindle and it didn't work, I figured what the hell and put it back in and left it for a couple of days and it ended up working.

Man that stinks. The reason I still have my galaxy S5 is because it is waterproof and the S6 is not. My phone has been submerged several times and still works flawlessly. If your S6 is finished get you an S7 they are IP68 rated, for shock, dust and water. They are waterproof up to 5' and 30 minutes under water. I am upgrading to the S7 in a couple weeks.

When I wade fish I carry my wallet and phone in a wide mouth stanley thermos.That's as sealed as they get and shatterproof.Just clip it to a belt loop and let er float.

I stuff a towel in the bottom for some padding, and then put in camera, wallet, phones or whatever. To make it easier to find things put those in Ziplock bags and then put them inside this bag. Roll the top, snap and go. If you tump over, the bag will float.

I've got a Minn Kota brand roll top bag, at the beach with my fishing kayak and inshore gear. Ive used ziplocs and phone bags too. But today I didnt for some reason.
Obviously Ive learned a few things. 1. 14 year old girls need specific, detailed instruction. 2. Never get on the water without protecting things that dont like to get wet. 3. If my fatazz is in the back of a small boat and the front is lifted straight up, it's going to sink. FAST.
The steep angle of the bank did not help either.

I've got an easier solution - I leave my phone in the truck if I'm going near water. If somebody wants to talk they can wait until I am done fishing. Hope you can salvage it.
