So I asked my 72 year old mom how long Montgomery has been called the Gump. She is a retired school principal (40 years, retired 5 years ago.). Lived her entire life in Montgomery. She looked me straight in my face and said she had never heard of Montgomery being called the Gump in her entire life. I informed her that she was wrong and that is what it is now known as...Mom replied, well people who worked her all their lives and pay property taxes don't call it the gump... I just laughed. She must not get out much!
