They sure do, DixiePatriot. My 25 lb. Rat Terrier jumped my nephew's Black Lab and actually hurt the Lab's L rear leg. I thought my RT was dead meat. He was lucky.

They'll also fight coons bedding in squirrel nests. My RT pulled out and killed a medium size coon. Again, I thought he was meeting his doom.

I liked the newer blue Merle variety from France a few years back. But I read numerous articles relating bad health histories on them. (really expensive, too) I want a black-white-tan RT...large variety w/a lot of white for visualization in darker woods...and from/a good, proven hunting stock.

Rat Terriers are feisty little dogs! But they are highly intelligent dogs and make fine squirrel dogs and 'house alert' dogs.
