Hanes long johns, Carhart flannel lined pants, sweat shirt and Carhart coat. It also works well at the job site.

I don't even own a pair of cotton longjohns anymore, haven't had any in over 20 years. Once it gets wet with sweat, its takes hours and hours to dry. Never wear cotton next to your skin, if its cold. The material next to your skin should be fast drying and able to wick moisture up away from your skin. Moisture robs the body of heat.
