I was so disgusted leaving the woods last night. Hunter missed one at 18 yards yesterday evening, and that made 5 misses in a row since we got here. We found one in a tree at dark yesterday and went in there to hunt him at daylight and he was gone. I couldn't find him anywhere on that creek. There were still two hens in the tree he was in but he was GONE. I was starting to get disheartened but we ran into 4 strutters this morning and lo and behold we were able to get in front of them without being seen. When the lead gobbler arrived he got ready and I said a little "Please don't miss" prayer. He pulled the trigger and the bird folded.
Happy dad right now. He was in serious danger of eating tag soup for dinner tonight.
