Well the limit bird for me wasn't what I had in mind. My son on his first trip to Nebraska has shot at four gobblers, six times and has yet to fill a tag. We spotted a lone gobbler and put the stalk on him this afternoon. Hunter started getting nervous and saying he was going to miss again, so I stopped him mid stalk and gave him a pep talk. After the talk I asked him was he ready and did he have shells in the gun and he replied "Yes". Then he stopped me and said "Can we both shoot"? Knowing his confidence was shaken I agreed but told him it was his bird. We made the last 100 yards to the location we needed to be. We get ready and when the gobbler walked across the cattle trail I said ok.....on three. I counted to three and I pulled the trigger and the bird crumbled. I turned to him and he had a look on his face and said, "I didn't shoot". He said his gun wouldn't fire. I got it from him and broke open the barrels and there was not a shell one in the gun. Got two and a half more days to get that kid a Merriam.

Oh yeah a turkey flopping into a creek while you are checking a shotgun makes for a poor picture.

Congrats on the birds, and tell that young fellow I said he is gonna kill the next one.

We had a guy in our camp that is over 65 and he killed his first one yesterday. He was as excited as anyone of any age could be.

#2 for me this trip. I will post up the story of my hunts later on. Both hunts have a pretty cool story to go with them.
