I hate to get off course here a little bit but I think there are lots of reasons turkeys are in a decline and litter may or may not be responsible. I know people have been using chicken litter for decades or maybe centuries. I think an increase in the coyote population,a decrease in coon hunters, everybody feeding corn which has increased the coon population considerably. Way more turkey hunters than even say 5 years ago. Lots of hunters using bait these days and the legalization of decoys has made turkeys easier to kill. Hawk and owl populations have risen dramatically and the massive change in timber practices with thousands and thousands of acres of hardwoods being clear cut all have to have some effect. Plus we just have more very good turkey hunters than we did a few years ago. Just my 2 cents.
