At the current state of our country with all the bull and these "anti-LGBT" bills. I was curious to see if Alabama had a similar bill in place to protect our small businesses in Alabama. Someone had enough forethought to pass a bill back in 1998. It protects these business owners from being discriminated against. I believe that the states in the south will truly be a moral beacon of light as this country goes down the crapper. I'm glad some states in the south have taken the moral high ground. Others not so much and are worried more about money and business. I'm proud of NC and MS. I'm proud to be from the south.

"Protects business owners from being discriminated against"? Not sure how someone giving you money is being discriminated against
I'm a small business owner and I'll sell to any gay that has money.
Y'all must make more than me to turn money down
Hell half the architects I work with and most of the interior designers are probably gay, it's life, deal with it

Hell half the architects I work with and most of the interior designers are probably gay, it's life, deal with it That's the problem. It's not about money. It's about what's right. If you want tell sell to someone that's gay that's no problem. I don't have a problem with selling a lawn mower to a gay man. What I have a problem with is making someone do something against their will. Something they have a deep conviction with. If the gay man gets turned down for his wedding cake just go somewhere else. I'm not persecuting you. I just don't agree with your lifestyle and would rather you go somewhere else and not SUE me for it. there is no discrimination. I just don't agree with it and would rather not being involved. Go somewhere else. I could care less about the money. It's about what's right in the eyes of God.

It's about the money and not about the moral and biblical principals this country was founded on.

Again, real life You can pay your mortgage and pay for daycare and honor God. People do it EVERYDAY. I promise if you turn down things in the name of the Lord you will get business tenfold if you do what he tells you to. You do what you want. The purpose of my post was not to talk about what you do or don't do. My post was to say I'm glad the state of Alabma protects me from stupid people trying to sue me for something I believe in based on what God said

Nothing wrong with doing business with the LGBT community if that's what you want to do, but you shouldn't be forced to if your convictions tell you not too......

Again, real life I'm fine with you doing as much work with whatever group of people you want to work with. I don't think it's the governments job to tell small business owners who they have to do business with though. If you want to talk about "real life", "real life" is not fair. Real life shouldn't be given to you and controlled by the government. If someone refuses to make you a gay cake, tough luck. Real Life isn't fair. Go find another business that will happily take your money.

There must be a ton of gay cakes made, because that's the only analogy I hear. Ever.
What if publix, Winn Dixie and Kroger all decide to check gay cards at the door? Do the gays need to start farming their food?
I just think it's a slippery slope.
I understand not wanting to be forced to do anything, I just don't see how it's intrusive in even the slightest possible way
Would all of the proponents of this be equally pissed if some business turned you away from shopping in their store for being a Christian?
I know I wouldn't be happy about it

I know I wouldn't be happy about it There isn't a lot of gay cakes made, But that small loud minority wants everyone to appease to them. They want their rights but don't care about others rights. I think that most people don't mind to sell to gays or etc, but once that "sell" starts going against the sellers honest belief, they shouldn't be forced into it. It's a very slippery slope, but it shouldn't be.

I think a difference needs to made between in general service and custom services. Selling an item off the shelf and being forced to do perform a service or duty are two different things. What about wedding photographers? If a gay couple tries to hire them and they say no, then what happens? Selling a gay guy a lawn mower is different than taking pictures at the wedding. What about ministers who do wedding services? Can they be sued for refusing to perform the service?
This whole issue isn't about discrimination, it's about forcing an agenda. If you make the delineation in the law between custom and in general services then possibly this thing won't ever be an issue.. May still be an issue as the progressive agenda is relentless, but I think that is an important difference to highlight.

Should a Christian magazine be forced to publish ads for a sex shop? Should a children's daycare be forced to provide care for a 50 year old man that wants to be identified as a 6 year old girl? (If you can choose your gender identification why not extend the same rights in regards to age?)

I know I wouldn't be happy about it Why yes. It is a very slippery slope. Any time the federal government or any other government entity tramples on the rights of people to mind their business or club any way that they want to, (Like refusing to make a gay cake, or allowing gay Boy Scout leaders to influence our youth, or maybe you don't wan't the thug with his pant's around his knees working in your restaurant) It's an extremely slick slope. We have enough government overreach as it is. If they choose to live life as a drunkard, then they can face whatever the consequences. If they choose to live their life completely rejecting the scriptures, then they can face whatever the consequences for that may be. If that means that they drive across town for their Adam and Steve cake, then so be it. But that's not the last consequence they will pay.

Yes, you are correct, it is a slippery slope, but it shouldn't be. The slippery slope is the result of the Federal government choosing to protect the rights of a class of people (GLBT) while trampling on the rights of another (Christians). Anytime you start enforcing laws at your choosing, you are setting up a slippery slope.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

The same bunch of people were not discriminating against anyone when they "chose" not to serve people of color and made inter-racial marriages illegal.
Right?
