I can still hear low frequencies OK, so I can still hear drumming. I've heard 3 this season and all were over 50 yards away when I heard them. My high frequency hearing is gone and I can't hear gobbling very far now. If the wind is blowing I might as well stay home.
But hearing drumming is something of an acquired skill. A guy I've been hunting with several years said he couldn't hear it. We had a flock drumming on the roost one morning and he said he never heard it. But he called in a strutter this year and heard him plain, just didn't know what he was hearing before.
