Wait until the windmill craze hits here, like it did in Texas.
This will not be the case in Alabama as the average annual windspeeds are too low without a major technology leap to be cost competative.
As for solar I have installed several standalone and grid tied systems. In general the ROI is 15-20 years for Alabama as we have low energy cost as compared to other states and little to no state tax incentives outside the federal ones which may expire. However this may change with the continued war on coal.
