Hubble Telescope NOT NEEDED. You are correct, Sir. You are right. For me the phrase aim small miss small comes to mind. If its far out there I want to see detail up close as much as I can. I agree though that the 12x-15x magnification is more suitable for 500 yards though.
Only accurate rifles are interesting.

93 Confirmed, 360 Unconfirmed with an 8x or 10x including a 2500 meter kill with this 10x Unertl:  Hubble Telescope NOT NEEDED. I'm in agreement! A 2-7X36 is my favorite size scope but I rarely shoot over 100 yards. I hunts woods 99% of the time and I've only killed deer around 400 yards in 20 years. The last 30 deer I've killed have been under 100 yards, maybe under 50 yards for most.

2-10 for woods and fields. 2x will let you see way later than you should be shooting.
3-12 for general bean field or cutover, maybe a 4-12.
5-20 for long range, 500+
These are my guidelines and what works for me. YMMV

I've got a 3-15 and to me it's perfect. You can see plenty well at 5-600 yards and at the same time have low enough power for low light
