Last year on Saturday, March 28, my Dad died of a heart attack. I hunted every opportunity I had last season with his gun and couldnt call one in to kill with it. I have been very fortunate this year and have called in 3 turkeys to be killed and was attempting a 4th this morning to be killed by a buddy. Things didn't work out and he had to be back to his truck at 830. After I dropped him off I decided I would. Heck a little place by the house. I park and walk up a long hill to get to the Ridge I was going to call from. About 3/4 way there it dawned on me that Dad died on a Saturday. So I'm walking up a road we have walked, I'm toting his gun, going to use a call a buddy made for me after he died on a hill where he had his last picture taken with a turkey. I'm sure yall are seeing where this is headed  how cliche would it be to kill a turkey on a mid morning hunt today?? So I get to my trusty root ball I always sit at and get my call out. I sand it up and my striker and just sit there for a couple of minutes just letting everything settle down. I cluck 2 or 3 times and then let out a raspy 3 note yelp. He hammers 100 yards up the ridge...... NO /@^@&'^$^@&$^$^ WAY THAT JUST HAPPENED!!!! I dropped the call and got my gun ready. 2 min later I see his fan and that glowing white head coming straight to me. I say a little prayer and touch the trigger. Hussein Bolt could have kept up with me going to that turkey!!!! He was only a 2 year old but is my most special turkey to date. Stories like that will bring a tear to your eye. That's just so awesome. I had a very similar outcome a few days after my grandfather died. It was meant to be. Congrats again hunter! You're on a roll!

Makes me teary eyed. This is a happy and sad time of year for me. It's still tuff, 13 years my old man's been gone. I've had some good hunts with my boys this year. I think he has been right there with us!
