Bought the Goliath yesterday from Hoyt and got in a quick climb before the rain this afternoon after work. I think this stand may be the one. It was comfortable and roomy to sit in and really bit into the tree. Just going to be a long wait now until October. I don't want to rub it in too bad for anyone who looked but didn't get it but this thing came with third hand stabilizer straps, the footrest, a bowholder, a molle belt and a pouch that held a pull-up rope, saw, cable and lock, and a grunt call. The straps really lock it down too once you're set up. I think you could sit all day in this one.

How in the hell do you use the harness while facing the tree? I sold my 180 max because of that issue

I face forward in my 180. Unless you want to face the tree the other summitts are plenty good and much easier to climb in.

I love my Goliath!! You will really enjoy it the only problem is it is so comfortable and easy to take a nap in!

Both of my summit's chipped paint fairly quick. I painted my old viper and plan to do the same to my titan before the season starts

180 Max here and the sit is amazing, although the climb is still a little awkward to me seems to sit to far back from the tree if I just sit on the bar to climb.

My paint chipped like crazy mine had zero prep work so the paint had nothing to bite to on the smooth aluminum. I think I will send it back and get summit to repaint it. Has anyone actually done this?

It looks this way because they are powder coated, not painted. There is no primer. You can strip it then etch it chemically and have it re powder coated. Another option which I have considered over the years is to strip it then have in rhino lines like a truck bed.

I've got three vipers and love them. The oldest one is around 4 years old maybe older and it had some chipped paint and I just paint them each year and I've had to replace the old style wrap around cushions with the newer zipper style one. But I've enjoyed them and have spent a many hours in them.

Let you in on a little trick for climbing with 180 that might help. Try to find a larger tree for this stand equal as close to the height you expect to climb as to the base as you can get. The real small trees just don't work too good. Flip the seat over and under and tighten strap across while you climb. Sit on back bar and go to it. When you get good at picking tree size you will appreciate this stand more.

So when you sit and climb, you're sitting on the seat instead of the rail?

Yes extreme that is actually the design of the stand. You're supposed to sit in the seat to climb. I have never tried it myself as I'm used to sitting on the rail. But because of how far it is behind you it makes it difficult to do. Plus because I don't face the tree I would have to unhook the seat after climbing to face it back away from the tree.

Climb sitting on the seat forward facing...use the rope style tree strap...allows you to sit facing the tree and still be comfortable...at least with a gun. I think with a bow the strap would get in the way when you stand up to shoot.

I just have my slip knot even with the cable of the climber, would make for a little whiplash if I fell, but certainly nothing terminal. I love facing the tree when hunting the edge of cutovers, or shooting lanes, feel like it makes my silhouette much less discernable.
