If you are going to shoot more than a few, as stated above, loading and maintenance of a ML is a pita (in my opinion). Having said that, I love old stuff. Had a ML I couldn't get to shoot, and would like another one. Have a Colt 1860 Army Revolver and love it. But a good old school ML will smoke a deer out to 100 yds easy - just like a 45-70. Also have to like working out a load component combo that works. And sights may be an issue if you get an old school ML and have old eyes (like I do). Some of the new-fangled MLs alleviate a number of these shortcomings, but as I said, I personally am old school.
If you want to shoot more/easier/lazy with gun maintenance, go slug gun. Rifled bbl/scope/premium sabot slugs. Accuracy will just plain shock you! And real thumper on a deer. If use for hogs, ONLY way to go for follow-ups/multi-shots.
