I hunted Cahaba a good bit while in pharmacy school at Samford. Heard a few birds there. We hunt Oakmulgee opening week every year. We primitive camp at South Sandy, but there are bathhouses and electricity/water campsites at Payne lake.

There are some birds there. Sometimes it is hard to hear if the gas pumps are on.

There's a wma and a national forest just as close to you, that have more vocal birds.

I have heard a few gobble over in Oakmulgee but it was last January when I was deer hunting and it was at fly down when I heard them, no telling where they are now...

If you are hunting oakmulgee spend this weekend riding the rds looking for new burns. The birds will be there when the woods begin to green up

I'll be hunting at Cahaba this year too. Been scouting the last two weeks and had a bird gobbling last weekend.

The helena side of the cahaba is loaded with birds.

Lol! I bet your ears are burning like crazy from people cussing you out. I'd bet my next paycheck I could follow your truck to the pea ridge side the first time you hunted it. laugh

I don't hunt them either. I'm afraid I'll stop hunting if I ever have to deal with some of the idiots than run around out there daily. I guess I'll just keep multiple jobs so I can afford private land.
Good luck to you guys and mucho respect for the ones wading through people out there!
