Heard an ad for organ donation today and it made me curious, what is the reason some people don't volunteer for organ donation? If you're a Christian, you get a new body anyways and if you're an atheist, what does it matter? I understand when a child dies and the parents have to make that decision and the emotional stress having them not thinking clearly or willing to give up hope, but I'm talking about adults making that declaration when they get their DLs.

I hope I'm the opposite. Maybe some emotional distraut parents get longer life for a kid from one of mine if at all possible.

I became an organ donor the first time I renewed my liscense,if I'm dead I don't need my organs anymore,if they are still salvageable then maybe I can save a life is how I look at it.I wonder if a majority of people that get creamated donate their organs before they are torched?it would make sense to donate them instead of burning them to me.

I guess it's the same reason people spend tens of thousands on a funeral rather than a couple hundred on a simple cremation.

Having had dealt with more than my share of dead and dying children, I've seen it both ways. Some parents are too distraught to even think rationally, others are too heartbroken to not do something noble to honor the life of their child.

I am. My sister was as well. I was with her in the hospital when she joined the Lord. They let us say our goodbyes and took her from the room for that purpose. We rejoiced in the fact she was blessing others even though she was no longer on this earth.

1) Donate your organs, you don't need them anymore 2) expensive funerals are stupid 3) just put me in the ground out in the woods with a bunch of white oak acorns buried with me so maybe one can grow in my place. My 2 cents

Not only on my DL but I've made it clear to my family that the organ harvesters can have anything on my they want that will be of use. Also thinking of letting science have my body before cremation also. I've got no use for any of it anymore.

First I heard was when I was 16....She asked me at the trooper office and I said... if Im dead....Well Hell Yeah....Donate whatever.... I can Sing like hell but aint much on Dancin....Even though I can Bust a Move....

No need for organ donors. Just go to death row and get what ever body parts the patient needs!! Should be a surplus of organs.

To the OP, I would assume its because not everyone here is either Christian or Atheist. There are a lot of world views that would heavily frown upon destroying your body, even after death.


but I'm a Christian....and an organ donor.

I can understand that with Hindis or religions with reincarnation, but still way too many Christians and atheists aren't willing to donate. I just don't understand it. My guess would be that many people just don't want to deal with their own mortality and the fact that they are going to die.
