I didn't even think about jack stands, I have some sitting in my garage...will give that a try. I knew I was not thinking of something simple!
I use jack stands as well. You will probably need a piece of 2x6 in the jack stand if you are loading/unloading on soft ground.
Best thing is what we have at the farm, a slightly raised road bed. It's the perfect height to load equipment without a set of ramps. Just back the rear trailer lip over the edge and go.
