antivenom is pretty expensive and sometimes it takes a LOT to counteract a bite. Yeah that and risking losing a foot or leg should motivate one to wear boots or chaps and watch your step. We're spoiled here in South Florida in that Miami Dade county has a venom response unit that responds throughout the state to get anti venin to victims at the hospital. But if you're bit out in the wilderness and have a long trek to a hospital you risk losing a limb even with a venom response unit in your region. If the anti venin works you also have to worry about infection from those rat and frog eating bastages.

I use snake chaps. I assume they're as reliable as snake boots. I've only come across one venomous snake in the woods. It was a small cottonmouth moving down stream. Went between my knees as I stood in the water. Now I keep my head on a swivel.

I got some bogg diamondbacks and my only complaint with em is that they are so loud...anyone else have a problem with their boots slapping the back of your calf? The old lacrosses I had were not snake proof and I never had this problem..(maybe they aren't broken I good enough?? Idk)

I have worn them since moving to Alabama in 2012, my wife started hunting and she now wears them. I would much rather deal with hot sweaty legs and/ or wet feet than a bite and trip to the ER and stay in the hospital.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
