As long as the bird is facing you its it's a decent shot, but I cannot count how many birds I've missed and have watched missed while getting shot in strut. Very little room for error with his neck tucked behind his wings.
What's your favorite way to get them to come out of the "love dance" do yall just wait or putt ???
Mine is pretty simple and I've done it for years no matter if he is in strutted or not I just like to see them stretch that ole neck out!
As soon as he gets to the spot I want to shoot him at I just say "GOOD MORNING" and pull the trigger!!! Gets them every time. Everyone that hunts with me enjoys it as well!

X3...... Unless there are multiple hunters or multiple gobblers or both I'm about to turn that a flip just as soon as I can get a bead on him.

This, definitely.

If I want to watch, I'll get my field guide and binoculars to go to a park.

In my experience, they gobble frequently when strut. I usually shoot when gobble and head extended

Have blown many of a fan completely off with a straight on shot though

I've shot 2 in the past 5 years that where facing me in strut and not killed them on the first shot. One of them was 25 steps and I blew his beak off, then he came running past me and I killed him.

Lessons learned...... No more strutting turkeys unless no other option present itself, especially facing me.

If they are within 30 yards and it's a clean shot I'll shoot him strutting but I'm gonna try to get him to stretch out if possible

I get a kick out of getting them as close as possible!! I want to feel the ground and my insides shake when he's real close and gobbling!!!! Our lease has some land that is mostly cedars and sage and it's almost like the ground is hollow!!

I try and get that head extended. I've only shot one in strut, and he was within 10 yards and would not come out of strut.
