When would bow season start, Oct. 15 or 25th? Don't worry they will leave the north at October 15th and the south at October 25th, well because that is generally how stupidity works. Not that acorn drop will matter once feeders are dropping corn, natural cycles won't matter anymore on how seasons are set cause it's only about the rut.

When is the cab meeting? I plan to be at the next one cause the feb 10 bump is bull shucks for the majority of the north zone. If it's needed for certain areas make a zone for that area not the entire state.

Bolton's article raises several questions. Is WFF driving these recommendations or is WFF being bypassed? Why is there no quote from Chuck Sykes to outline his agency's official position on extended deer season and reduced turkey bag limits? The article says AU School of Forestry & Wildlife Sciences made the recommendation to reduce turkey bag limit. Is AU making that recommendation directly to the CAB or is it actually coming as a recommendation from WFF?

Makes no sense at all to me. None of it. Predation on turkeys and fawns are to blame for almost everything wrong with the numbers right now. It almost seems as if they are side stepping the real issues there.
Also they are trying to give something to the hunters in the north part of the state to sugar coat the fact they are being bent over with new turkey regulations.
It does not really matter though, because they will do what they want even if its not in the best interest of the state.

We absolutely have a brigade of morons making decisions.

I strongly vote against this our rut is over by mid January here up in northeast Alabama and some horns are off in my pics at end of january. And tKe two weeks off turkey season no thank you

I am usually burnt out on deer hunting by the second week of January. If this passes, I will probably delay my start to the first or second week of December. This would work for me.

....get some lazy a$$es out of shooting houses and actually experiencing a hunt! It's stupid statements like this that makes Alabama hunters look ignorant, not the people making the rules. What do you care if they sit in a shooting house? Don't say you don't because if you didn't you wouldn't make statements like that. Why don't you get rid of your high power scope and go back to iron sites and "experience a hunt"? Better yet, why don't you get you an old musket and start melting down your own lead to make bullets with, like the forefathers did and "experience a hunt"? Why don't you start hand making your bows, arrows and arrowheads to "experience a hunt"? I hunt a shooting house a good bit because I have my kids with me and it's better for staying concealed. You know what? It's perfectly 100% LEGAL. So, if it's legal, what does it matter to you how someone else hunts? You experience your hunt your way and let others experience their hunts their way. I guarantee you the time I get to spend with my kids in a shooting house, occassionally seeing a few does, is more of an "experience" that I ever had hunting the woods by myself. For the life of me, I'll never understand why people are so obsessed with how other people hunt when it's perfectly legal.

Like it or not if you look at all other states game management practices and compare that to Alabama...
We are the Wild West of deer hunting. It is what it is. Georgia is the only close second but they at least have a 13 deer limit or something.
The deer are anywhere in this state, however deer numbers and hunting success is localized for the most part. Depends to a large degree on your habits and the habits of your neighbors. If every time one sticks it's nose out you blow it off, or if your neighbors hunt in this manner you will suffer. But it is legal, so you can't do anything about it. If you are next to some QDMA guys then you'll probably fair better. You'll see more deer for sure. And if you are lucky you can shoot all the 130 inch deer they let walk under their unrealistic dreams of being on the front page of North American Whitetail.
You might need artillery to keep them out of a foodplot on your place. But understand that under the current game laws the guy down the road may have a problem and no deer or very poor hunting....
I don't think people understand that and only think of themselves, the money they are spending and their own opportunity. I truly feel sorry for the guys that have to hunt public land.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

they wont to make it as appealing as possible, so that they can bring in as many out of state hunters as possible. That drives up lease prices, increase's licenses sales, not to mention the money they put into the local economy for gas and supplies. Of course, this also means less available land because there's more hunters, and the out of state guys dont won't locals in there club and less deer.
