You also can't say that people won't vote for trump in the general election based on their principles. You don't know what people will do once election day comes. I mean we have someone right here who said for months that a vote for rubio was out of the question who now says he may vote for him.
I never said I wouldn't vote for Rubio. I said if the party nominated someone I couldn't support I'd write Cruz in. I did say I'd never, ever vote for Trump and I still.mean that. I.have never voted for a democrat and I'm not going to start with Trump. I might find that I can't vote for Rubio but I'm going to do my best to find a reason to support him if he's the nominee. I would like to challenge any Trump voter to give a good explanation of why democrats should have known enough about Obama's past to not vote for him but why Republicans should ignore Donald's past and pull the lever for him. I haven't heard anything but crickets anytime I've posed that question in the past so I doubt it will be different this time around. As my mom often said to me: CLEAN THE WAX OUT OF YOUR EARS AND LISTEN. Obama is EXACTLY what he said he was going to be, and exactly what the democrats wanted. He has done exactly what he said that he was going to do and has been amazingly successful. The idiots that voted for him once, twice would vote for him a third time if they could. But they ignored his past. When you'd tell them he meant to destroy the country based on what he said in the past they'd stick their fingers in their ears and deflect to something else....Just like Trump voters. So why won't Trump voters look at his past for indicators of what his life long beliefs are? Why do they deflect when it's brought up?....Just like Obama voters? Because they would rather vote for a man who used to be something but says he's changed, than help a woman who is proud to be even worse than she ever was.

And he's there because too many republicans thumbed their noses at the republican nominee. What came first? The chicken or the egg? My convention is he's there because the party pushed weak nominees that said one thing but whose track records said another. Pretty much the same thing that just happened when Republicans just won the house and Senate based on their claim they would fight Obama. Instead they just gave Obama a budget that Harry Reid said he wouldn't have had the balls to ask for if the Democrats controlled both houses. That's why Republicans lose. Not because of Republicans staying home but because the party has lied to their voters and abandoned them. A vote against them is not a vote for the other side. It's a vote against the continued fleecing of average Americans by both parties. Trump isn't the right candidate to change that but I recognize that he is a product of that frustration. That's the parties fault, not the fault of voters who stayed home or voted third party.

I understand what you are saying but my position is that a write in will never have enough support to cause the establishment to take notice. A write in is just a wasted vote. When the democrat wins, the establishment doesn't say," Wow,we should have run someone more conservative, just look at all those write in votes." What they will say is," Wow, the liberal democrat beat us, we better run someone more liberal next time to try to get some of those liberal votes."
No doubt. A write in or Third Party candidate is unlikely to ever win, though one did get enough votes back in the nineties to cost the GOP an election. They may not notice these votes, like you say, but if they see several elections with these votes trending up, they will at least see more dissatisfaction. Getting them to act on this dissatisfaction has been the problem, however.
All the write in's accomplish is to get candidates that are more and more alike, until it's hard to tell the republican from the democrat. If someone wanted to make a difference a better effort would be a petition to the RNC with more signatures on it than the number that voted in the last campaign, urging to run a true constitutional conservative. A few hundred write in votes by people too high minded to support the nominee won't mean squat.
Haven't you noticed the past few candidates that were nominated being more alike with the Democrats? McCain prides himself on voting with Democrats in the Senate on certain issues and Romney created a state level Assault Weapons Ban and mini-Obamacare when he was in office. The only difference is what they promise while campaigning. Many Republican Senators and Congressmen are mirror images of these two. There have been petitions sent to the RNC asking them to quit pandering to Democrats and corporations, but they have been ignored.
As you say though,Alabama will go Republican reguardless and the write in votes will mean even less.
Yes, write in votes don't mean much, but again, increasing numbers may make them finally take notice. Many people think they're simply oblivious or stupid, but these people aren't as incompetent as they appear. They know what we want, true conservatives that stick to the Constitution, but it conflicts with what many of their donors want. I don't know what will finally get their attention, if anything at all does, but rubber stamping a McCain, Romney or this time a Rubio hasn't been working, either.

If not, where did your write in get you? What did it accomplish?

Trump Hillary Hillary Trump to me it would be the same thing and for me it has nothing to do with abortion..(not that I am for it) it is all about who i know will do what he say's he will do and has always fought for the constitution, I can not get around the fact that Trump has changed every position he held in the last 2 years or so he say's, if it was just one or two then yeah I could see that but no one changes that much that fast, not to mention the fact his whole premise is to do or say what ever it takes to get the DEAL done...just read his book the art of the deal..
All this being said vote for who you want because deep down i don't think it makes a flip who wins this country is toast...I just don't see how we can come out of the hole we are in the will is just not there especially in the congress which has to sign off on just about anything a president try's to get done..at least a law abiding president..

Bill, do you honestly not see a difference in a devout socialist and Trump because he's not necessarily against abortion?
Seriously? Because that's about all you've every made a real point of, the stuff like the fact that he doesn't pray like you, he gave money to democrats, or supports emergency care for the poor is really blown-up fluff, that's really the issue, isn't it? Hardly. I've written it all out, posted video after video and all were Trumps own words. He's held every political position Hillary has over the last few years. He supported Al Sharpton just last year, and they've been friends for years. He supported Amnesty, higher taxes, partially birth abortion, socialized health care, have money to Pelosi, Reid and Schumer. 2 years ago be endorsed socialist mayor candidate Bill Deblasio. He said Hillary was a great Secretary of State. He supported both bail outs. I can go on but I've done all this before. There isn't a single other person on earth that would bet a pass on all that but you guys look at Trump and say "meh" and shrug your shoulders. There isn't any policy that Hillary has espoused that Trump hasn't parroted over the years. Every time I bring these points up the threads go cold or the deflection starts. There isn't a logical reason to give him a pass but he gets one because he yells at the establishment and calls people liars. They love him for that. They just don't love it when someone gives it back to him.

Honest question:
It seems the pivotal factor most Trump supporters tout when asked their attraction to him is "he's not a career politician".
Well neither am I. So would you vote for ME as president?
I am conservative, I run a successful business that has never bankrupted, have good financial sense (I'm in the insurance/finanicial industry), etc.
What's the difference? This is not a funny question, I'm being DEAD serious. You are already halfway there. All you need to do now is come up with some witty catch phrases, go all Rick Flair on their asses yelling "Whooooooo" after every answer you give, and then find a way to make Mexico pay for it. Hell, I'll be your campaign manager. Won't be too hard to follow the Donald Trump model. And when the opportunity presents itself, just call everybody that points to any liberal or anti-conservative comment and/or statement you have been recorded saying in the past three years a liar.
Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

I doubt that you would have. I honest think that many people on Aldeer would do a better job running this country than 90% of what we have in DC right now. These are simply men. They aren't Gods, they are men. Just like the Pope, or other leaders in the world.

I don't know why yall start threads like this, the Republican will carry Alabama no matter who the candidate is.
And trumps position is that he was "for it before he was against it" or "he was against it before he was for it " on every possible subject that you can bring up.

A lot of men's egos are threatened by a man like Donald Trump. They would love to be like him but bash him because he makes them feel weak and unsuccessful. I'm not one of those people. I'm voting for Donald Trump because he's a smart and successful man and not a politician. I know what politicians will do because I've seen it my whole life. They make their living by telling voters what they want to hear. If Trump is not being truthful with the voters it won't be anything different than what we've seen in the past. I'm giving Trump a chance. If someone else wins the nomination, I'll vote for them. I'm a angry white man who likes what Donald Trump says!

No bill, I am not going to waste a bunch of time explaining the difference in the two situations you are comparing because I disagree that they are the same. I believe I have looked into his past but just see it differently than you just as I have looked into cruz past and see it differently than you. It is a shame though that neither of us will get to see how our first choice would do in office, at least this election, as the rino rubio will get the nomination and not a single thing will get done or undone. Not a single thing of consequence. I believe you did but I am not going to argue about it. You said you wouldn't support a rino and rubio is the biggest rino up there now that Christie is gone. You also can't say that people won't vote for trump in the general election based on their principles. You don't know what people will do once election day comes. I'm going to have a hard time pulling the lever for Rubio, and I'm still not sure I can, but I'm going to stay open to the possibility. Trump is a 100% no , for me. Since you responded to part of my reply, would you like to take a shot at the question I posed?
