I understand what you are saying but my position is that a write in will never have enough support to cause the establishment to take notice. A write in is just a wasted vote. When the democrat wins,the establishment doesn't say," Wow,we should have run someone more conservative,just look at all those write in votes." What they will say is," Wow, the liberal democrat beat us, we better run someone more liberal next time to try to get some of those liberal votes."

No doubt. A write in or Third Party candidate is unlikely to ever win, though one did get enough votes back in the nineties to cost the GOP an election. They may not notice these votes, like you say, but if they see several elections with these votes trending up, they will at least see more dissatisfaction. Getting them to act on this dissatisfaction has been the problem, however.

All the write in's accomplish is to get candidates that are more and more alike,until it's hard to tell the republican from the democrat. If someone wanted to make a difference a better effort would be a petition to the RNC with more signatures on it than the number that voted in the last campaign,urging to run a true constitutional conservative. A few hundred write in votes by people too high minded to support the nominee won't mean squat.

Haven't you noticed the past few candidates that were nominated being more alike with the Democrats? McCain prides himself on voting with Democrats in the Senate on certain issues and Romney created a state level Assault Weapons Ban and mini-Obamacare when he was in office. The only difference is what they promise while campaigning. Many Republican Senators and Congressmen are mirror images of these two.
There have been petitions sent to the RNC asking them to quit pandering to Democrats and corporations, but they have been ignored.


As you say though,Alabama will go Republican reguardless and the write in votes will mean even less.

Yes, write in votes don't mean much, but again, increasing numbers may make them finally take notice. Many people think they're simply oblivious or stupid, but these people aren't as incompetent as they appear. They know what we want, true conservatives that stick to the Constitution, but it conflicts with what many of their donors want. I don't know what will finally get their attention, if anything at all does, but rubber stamping a McCain, Romney or this time a Rubio hasn't been working, either.
