It is ironic this shows up here. Just yesterday I was reading on a forum for Southern Illinois and Mizzou hunters and there is a town at the southern most tip of Illinois.......Cairo. River town that suffered much the same way as Selma. Amazing the similarities and opinions. Cairo is pretty much a ghost town and has tons of issues much like Selma does.
I agree. Folks think because you are white that you are automatically given a fair shake, yet in my life time I have suffered from Equal Opportunity and been turned down for jobs, although I was qualified because the federal govt fights racism with racism.
I am working in an absolute shucks-hole paying for my student loans because I busted my ass and went to school and am up to my arm pits in debt. I am where I am by the grace of God Almighty and hard work. I have worked with several dirt poor black men that went the same route and have "made it" in life and feel the same way I do. Hard work never hurt nobody.
