Some friends and I are heading down to Lowndes WMA in the next week or so for some hog hunting. Could any of y'all give me any advice on their activity? I figure they will be hitting greenfields pretty good, but I could be wrong. I know that swamp area north of the highway is always a hotspot. Any advice is appreciated.

I have been slow to respond to your question because I haven't hunted it in a few years. Was hoping someone else would chime in.

But, here is what has worked for me when I hunt it. I go in off of the Hwy 80 parking area and walk in a LONG way. There are two food plots I think they are called 180 east and 180 west. There were always pigs in that area. I never killed any sitting the plots. I would climb in the thick stuff between them.

Hope you have good luck.

Better check water level before you head to that part of WMA. It was under 5 feet of water last weekend. If you have waders or a canoe the pigs are there on the little high ground left but if was WET at the last gun hunt. There are always pigs on the main portion of the WMA north of the check station but it will be very crowded this weekend I think with half the state being done for the year.

Thanks for the replies fellas. That'll help us out a lot since our scouting time will be limited.
