I didn't get to hunt today since I had to go back to work today, but one of members killed a nice eight point that he said was following a doe a little after 9. That makes our second buck of the season. Both were eight pointers and both were in Jaanuary. Hopefully it will just keep getting better!

I tried to take a day off and go this morning but got called into work about 0900. Typical!! I did see two different spikes pushing a doe around before i had to leave. If i had to bet the big 8 ive been after walked through 10 minutes after i left.

Poacher on my land and close. I scramble down the tree and go after them to no avail. Found no sign of them or a dead deer. So I'm back at it this afternoon in a different spot hoping the rain holds off long enough for me to get the whole hunt in

I hunted a clear cut from 9-11:30...nothing. Wind was a bit stiffer than I anticipated.

Just getting revved up down here. Been fighting photobucket all day so I could do an update and have given up on having pichers for now. Anyway, I didn't see any sign of life until about 8:15 I heard one grunting to my right. About 10 minutes later a nice 2.5 yr old 8 pt came right up under me from the direction I heard the grunting, suppose it was him. About 9:40 I decide to get down and sneak back to the truck for a break. I come out of the woods into a big peanut field where around a few corners of short planted pines I park my truck. I get around the next to last corner (imagine open field for hundreds of yards to my right and pine thicket to my left) and a doe runs away from me. I froze. Next thing I know she's coming BACK around the corner straight at me! She gets almost to me and darts in the woodline to my left. I look back towards the corner she just came back around and see a buck standing at the woodline looking around. I put the gun up and made a split second decision to take him. The 338WM went boom and he bolted off back into the thicket. Thinking I had missed the offhand shot (around 75 yards), I start walking towards where he was when I shot. I get about 10 yards from the woodline and I can see into it and it looks like an episode of American Horror Story. I've never seen an impact site like that. There was blood 7-8 ft up trees that were behind him and just in a spray pattern all over everything. A short track of about 40 yards and I found him piled up. He was bleeding so much is was beading on the trees as he ran by them. I have pics but again photbucket sucks today. Turns out he's a 9 pt with a broken G4 that was on our hit list as a cull. Old deer and his left side is badddd weak. Like a 3" G3 and G2. He is about 16" wide though, will look nice with my other rack mounts on the wall!

Well photobucket finally cooperated, uploaded like 20 of each pic... Trail cam from a couple weeks ago: Dead pics: Impact site: (really fun to zoom in on my phone on this one and find all the little spots) Blood beading on trees 15 yards past impact site: He won't score big but it was fun and he'll have his spot on the wall!
