If there under age their is not much that will happen. It is unfortunate and really sucks !!!!! I don't know where to start but IMO the only way it ever stops is it has to become a felony of some sort !!!! I know guys where I live that have had so many tickets written and at least $15,000 in fines over the last two years and they have killed at least 10 at night this year. You start talking felony and I guarantee you it slows down.

The bigger problem with these situations is the safety factor. How do they know that the land owner wasn't sitting on ground hunting the same area when they shot. Yeah dad was down there coyote hunting when this all went down. They shot the deer about 40 yards from my stand

I would've prosecuted. The boys knew they were wrong, no hunting license, no orange. Should've prosecuted obviously the dad isnt going to punish them if he was arguing. These boys will be back on your property or some one else's soon poaching.
Y'all ever got pulled over for speeding and given a warning? How long did it take for you to start speeding again? I know for me it's was soon as I get out of the cops view. Kids don't learn from warnings

I can believe it, we've pulled about 3 treestands off our property this year that don't belong to anyone we know. It's getting worse and worse trying to deer hunt in this state. If they aren't feeding and hunting over corn on the property next to you, they just come on over and hunt on your property as well. Sick and tired of this crap.

Not being a landowner, I guess I am a little confused. What more could he "prosecute" them for that is not already captured in the tickets they received? Trespassing? The killing of the deer? Can you be charged for hunting illegally and successfully hunting illegally? The hunting without permission is the one that really hurts these days from what little I know.

Imo there's a difference in 15-16 yr old kids crossing the line hunting and an adult.
I didn't know where OUR property lines were completely when I was that age.
I give kids a pass especially their first time.

I think I would have made a call to the judge to see if I could line up about 40 hours of community service.

Was the deer shot on your property?
Not sure I understand either.
So you did not go forward with any of the charges of trespassing or hunting without permission, and poaching (if deer was killed on your land)?
I wasn't there, but feel you may made a mistake for not pressing charges. Boys knew what they were doing. Wasn't there a fence or painted land line they had to cross?
