I honestly don't deserve as good as I've got and that is the honest truth. I also don't figure any father deserves praise for doing what we should do. Our kids need us but in my circumstance I believe God gave me my daughter to put my attention where it needs to be. I honestly don't know where I'd be without her because I was a selfish, self destructive fool before God used my daughter to wake me up. Any investment we make in our kids now will pay off many times over as they grow up. Great post bill.

My ex does everything she can to keep me from seeing my kids including trying to turn them against me so you single dads that don't have nut bag exes I envy you.

I get my 3 year old son every weekend, federal holidays, week of thanksgiving and week of the 4th and another whole week during the summer. If his moms at work and I'm off I get him. She's a nurse so works a crazy schedule. Me and her are friends and just try and do what's best for him. She lets me get him early all the time and if she ask I let her. We always talk for a min while we're swapping him and I think that really good for him to see.

I got full custody of my daughter right after she was born. My step-son too (only use that word so you understand the dynamics he is my son in every way). He stayed with me till he finished high-school and joined the navy.
I resigned from a corporate job to be a stay at home. I divided my house (Maui, Hawaii) into 4 units and rented the other 3 out.
Met my new wife and we have been together for 4 years now. She love's my daughter the same way I do and I feel the same about her two kids.
She had a daughter that was a couple months younger than mine and a son that is two years older. My wife's ex husband has zero interest in his daughter and that is a bit heartbreaking.
I send my daughter to Hawaii for periodic visits with her mom and everytime she goes, her mom has a new boyfriend living with her and that is a bit frustrating. Her mom is extremely volatile.
