Killed 205 in Pickens. Live weight on a scale. Killed a couple in Marshall co they had bigger horns but weighed less. Pretty good 7 that weighed 147 lbs dressed and a pretty good 8 that went 135 dressed.

I shot one on 12/20/15 in Cullman county that weighed 210#. My dad shot one in Cullman county several years ago that weighed 218#. Those are the only 2 we have killed

We don't weigh them all, but this is the largest buck that we did weigh and easily one of the heaviest we've killed, but since haven't always weighed all of them there is no way to be sure it is THE heaviest.

Killed by my son on one of the youth hunts. 230 lbs. He was fattening up for the winter and rut.

John--Not really such a big deal. Even on our farmed out land, we have one pop up every now and then.
Killed one in Clay County when I was 17. Weighed 187 field dressed. Weighed on certified scales at a meat processor/freezer plant.

We every deer killed on my club and have since 1992 and we have never killed a 200 pound are larger buck. We killed on old six point that weighed 195 but other than that one ours range from 150-185 tops.

Ive killed several over 200. Biggest was a 235# 8 point in Wilcox County in 2001.

I saw one Wed afternoon that was the biggest bodied deer I've ever seen on the hoof. I'd guess he in the 230-240 range. He looked like a yearling steer. Huge rump, big neck, deep brisket and sagging belly. I bet he was older than dirt. Was a long cowhorn spike. I would have whacked him but I was the only one hunting and there's no way I could have loaded the big sucker in my cart by myself.

I`ve killed 1 in extreme south Alabama (foley) that was 202 lbs. on my lease and another that was 190 lbs. there have been 2 others my buddies killed on the property. one was 210 and the other was 225. I have had a bunch more on camera in the 200 lb range. and a couple would be knocking on the door of 240 lbs.

We used to kill a lot of 200 lb bucks. But then I bought some scales and all of them dropped to 170 or below.

I have killed one deer since 1980 that weighed over 200, and he weighed 210 in the middle of January. His rack was disappointing for one that big.

When deer first started appearing in our area of Perry County in the 60s it wasn't uncommon to kill a 200 pound deer. There was a lot of Ag still around then. As the land was converted to pines, the body size of the deer dropped a lot. There was a time in the early 90s that we were killing 3-4 year old bucks that would weigh 125-140. Nearly all the land around was pines that hadn't been thinned, and there just wasn't much to eat.

The thinning of those first plantations started about then and the deer got bigger immediately. Now, there is a lot more variation in the land management, and a lot of supplemental feeding, and 200 lbs is not as uncommon. Still, we went 20 years without weighing a 200 lb deer.

I'm not saying there arent 200 pounders out there. My point was more that 200lbs is kinda that number that everyone wants their "mature" bucks to weigh, and with out putting it on a scale would venture to guess that most over exaggerate. Kinda like saying oh yeah he was a 4.5 year old with out really knowing.

Most people do overestimate live weights.

My heaviest deer was 195 field dressed and he was just an average 8 point 14 inches wide. But the biggest racked deer I ever killed was only 145 but he was run down bad. Had been shot in the back leg with a .22 or buckshot. His skin was loose like and old hound dog.

Every crappie I've caught weighed 2 lbs. You just gots to know how to guess weights.

I saw a picture yesterday of a buck killed in Courtland that was 320 lbs. Picture showed the deer on the scale and weight.

Well, my friend in Hartselle, killed one with a knife yesterday, it was 420 lbs DRESSED.

But seriously our deer are hard pressed to make it over 200 lbs.

I got a 7 point in Butler County in 2004 that went 232lb on the hoof. The property next door had planted many acres of corn and bush hogged in down. He was a chore to drag out! lol

I think what you are trying to say is correct. People are really bad at guessing weights. I saw one weighed over Christmas that was 125 live weight 2 year old. Most guesses beforehand were over 150. Pretty common mistake.

However -wanting a mature buck to weigh over 200 to be considered mature is a different discussion. That's unrealistic as far as age management is concerned. A lot of bucks will live and die of old age and never weigh that much.

I actually weigh all my big bucks on real scales not the eyeball kind. I've killed more than a dozen bucks 200-252#. Killed a 241 and a 252 on consecutive days off the same hot doe.....
